The Noble Eagle
The Noble Eagle soared high above earth's masses,
Her message clear to all the world's oppressed;
"From every region, climate, tongue and nation,
My wings outspread to give you peace and rest."
Ordained by God to carry freedom's blessings,
Ordained by God for all the world to see
How God Himself, in love and great compassion
Would have all peoples everywhere be free.
And so they came from villages and cities,
O'er mountains, desert sands and treacherous seas,
Because the Eagle's call for freedom drew them;
It was their heart's desire to be made free.
They rested 'neath her wings in ease and comfort;
They worked and played, secure that naught could harm.
But evil men despised the Eagle's greatness;
Their murderous deeds the whole world did alarm.
For now, the Eagle's wing is sorely wounded,
And some, beneath that wing are wounded too.
The nation mourns and weeps for those who perished;
The Eagle's wounds are ugly, deep and new.
But she will heal, once more to soar the heavens,
And those who wounded her will hear her scream
As she seeks out, to pluck them for destruction
And rid the world of their demonic scheme.
